Whitty in Whitleigh!

We were delighted to welcome the Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty, to our Wellbeing Hub on Friday 24th September. As well as visiting the University of Plymouth and Hamoaze House in Devonport, he took a tour of our building and met some of our dedicated volunteers, staff and partners.

Discussions took place about the collaborative approach taken to support vulnerable people across the city, as well as the work we have done to tackle social isolation and food poverty.

Professor Whitty said: “It was very interesting to hear about the impressive and innovative partnerships in Plymouth working to tackle complex health challenges. I was struck by the dedication of colleagues to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community, and who continue to work tirelessly following an extremely difficult last 18 months.”

Before the visit was over, we gave Professor Whitty a small gift as a token of our appreciation for his continued hard work and commitment to the country throughout the pandemic.
