Whitleigh Primary School Supports Emergency Food Scheme

Updated: Dec 23, 2020

Thanks to Local Councillor, Jon Taylor, we have engaged in an exciting partnership with Whitleigh Primary School, who are contributing to our emergency food support scheme.

For the Christmas period the school are supporting Four Greens Community Trust by collecting food donations. After this they are continuing to engage with our emergency community support scheme by collecting toys and clothes as well as looking at a potential fundraiser on behalf of FGCT.

Year 3 School Council Members, Darcie Taylor, Riley Blade, Neve Powell, Callum Littler were passionate to lead on this project for their school. One pupil said "we wanted to help less fortunate people in our community who don't have enough food".

Blair Russel, Year 3 Teacher at Whitleigh Primary School, said:

"The children are very interested to support their local community by donating items or raising money for food, toys and clothes"

Mark Rowles echoed the comments made by Blair adding:

"It was wonderful to meet the pupils and see their amazing efforts towards gathering food donations. This will make a big difference and it is humbling to see young people willing to support vulnerable people in their local community at this time of year. The Trust is incredibly grateful of this generosity and the level of support of the young people in the Whitleigh community".

Food donations collected by pupils and teachers from Whitleigh Primary.
