Four Greens Community Trust is to receive £4,100 from the Tackling Inequalities Funding from Sport England, which will be achieved thanks to the recommendation made by Active Devon.
The Tackling Inequalities Funding aims to support targeted groups in communities who have been most affected by the Pandemic, which has seen their activity levels dramatically affected. FGCT aim to help reduce the negative impact of COVID-19 and the widening of the inequalities in sport and physical activity.
Data from a recent survey undertaken by Sport England, highlights the widening gaps in the activity levels across existing groups. "These groups are: people from Lower Socio-Economic Groups; black, Asian, Minority Ethnic Communities; disabled people; and people with Long Term Health Conditions". COVID-19 is likely to have a significant impact on these groups abilities to be physically active, meaning the gaps of inactivity could be further widened.
Four Greens Community Trust plan to commit this funding to:
Increase part time staff hours for three months to cope with additional demand
Emergency support funding for up to 100 vulnerable residents
Volunteer training
Activity packs for young people over the summer
This is offering us further opportunities to work within our communities and develop their health and wellbeing.
